Full Text

DEMOCRATIC PRATTLE.—Occasionally the Ohio Statesman publishes a fling at Gen. Taylor about 'all the world, and the "rest of mankind." In publishing the other day, the proceedings of a democratic meeting held at Defiance, the Statesman says:—

"The meeting in our paper, held by Mr. Sprague's constituents, which we copy from the Defiance Democrat, puts to rest the state of public feeling in that quarter."

It would appear from this that the meeting was held in the Statesman paper. What is copied from the Democrat it would be difficult to tell, But it is certain that both together "puts to rest the state of public feeling in that quarter."

The "quarter" intended is not definitely mentioned, nor is it easy to tell what the Statesman means by putting "to rest the state of public feeling." We defy any one to put together more nonsense in the same number of lines.
