Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Portsmouth, Jan. 1.

"Vast Preparations against the Spring go forward very briskly. Our Troops are canton'd round the Country near the Coast, so that they can be ready at a short Warning. It is thought our Armament in the Spring will surpass any Thing of the Kind that was ever sent out of England; which we have great Reason to believe, when, besides what is now doing, we consider the stupendous Provisions of warlike Stores still on board the Transports, and under the same Order as at first."
