What is this article about?
A letter to Mr. Duane from Livingston County, NY, counters a suggestion to import spring flying shuttles from Europe, stating they are already in use in Blockley township where a woman weaves 60 yards of cloth daily. It predicts that under Jefferson's democratic policy, America will surpass European nations in machinery within five to six years.

Mr. Duane,
FROM THE AURORA.
I saw in your paper a recommendation for some citizens to import the spring flying shuttle from Europe: the intention was laudable, but it was not necessary to go to Europe for what we have among us in actual use. Let any one that is curious in matters of this kind, take a walk to Blockley township, and he will see the spring flying shuttle used by a young woman who can weave sixty yards of cloth in a day with it, and can do so for weeks together. If the happy policy of Jefferson and democracy is preserved only five or six years longer, America will neither be the least conspicuous or the least active in the use of machinery : I will venture to say and do not speak lightly nor ignorantly but what I particularly understand, we are likely to outstrip any European nation whatever.
