Extract of a letter dated Zante 18th June, received by way of Otranto.

I will now give you a detail of facts which have taken place, and which you may rely on.—I. Ibrahim Pacha has taken both New and Old Navarino. 2. After occupying the town of Arcadians it was totally destroyed by fire by Ibrahim Pacha. 3. The same General has occupied Nisi, and has established his head quarters there, after having laid waste the surrounding country, and penetrated to within six hours march of Tripolizza. 4. The whole of Livadia has been occupied by Redschid Pacha, who conducts in person the siege of Missolonghi, which is reduced to great extremities.—The Egyptian fleet has returned for the 4th time to Candia, for a body of 5,000 troops arrived there from Alexandria. I send you the substance of an official report of the transactions relative to, and which succeeded the fall of Navarino.

"The garrison of Navarino laid down their arms on the 23d of May, when they were embarked on board European vessels and landed at Calamata. Thirty officers retained their arms and baggage, and the soldiers retained all their property and baggage; none were plundered. Ibrahim Pacha retained as hostages, the son of Patron Bey; and General Istraco. The Egyptians took the island in front of Navarino. 936 prisoners obtained their liberty; after laying down their arms. These were escorted by a detachment of cavalry, to a distance of several leagues into the interior. Several chiefs were taken prisoners, viz. Hadgi Cristo, the two brothers Laftiro pulo, a Maniote Chief, the Bishop of Modon, 20 other Captains and Chiefs and six Greek Chiefs. The following were killed: Anagnostera, Minister of War; General Santa Rosa, the Secretary of Navrocorduto; the brother in law of Tombasi.

Ibrahim Pacha is present in person in the hottest part of every action and exposes his person with a bravery bordering on rashness. It is to be hoped that the example of humanity which he set the Greeks at Navarino, will be imitated. His whole force is estimated at 20,000 men chiefly Arabs. An attack is expected from Colocotroni who is arrived at Calamata for that purpose, having assumed the chief military command of the Greek force."
