Capt. Billups
To Command School

Captain Marvin E. Billups, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie W. Billups of Birmingham, Alabama, will soon be leaving for the Army's Command General and Staff School.

Captain Billups is now serving as Battalion Executive Officer for the Headquarters Detachment, 13th Battalion, Third Training Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Captain Billups received a ROTC Commission from Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama in 1950. He served as a Platoon Leader at Fort Benning, Georgia from 1950 to 1951 and in Germany from 1951 to 1954.

He returned to the states in 1954 and was assigned as a Company Commander at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. In 1956 he returned to Germany for a three year tour of duty as a Company Commander.

In June of 1959 he returned to the states and attended the Advanced Infantry Officers Course and was assigned to Fort Jackson. While at Ft. Jackson he served as Company Commander of A-11, D-11, and C-14; as Chief of Training Committee. He also served as Battalion Executive Officer for the 11th and 12th Battalions.

Captain Billups is married to the former Miss Deborah L. Bradford of Birmingham. They have four daughters: Jeannen, Marvine Lynn, Deanna Leslie, and Michelle ages 15, 4, 5, and 9, respectively.
