The committee to investigate the affairs of the District of Columbia met this morning, Senator Thurman in the Chair Senator Boutwell still being unwell.

The committee ordered five hundred copies of Governor Shepperd's answer to their interrogatories printed, and ordered the vouchers and papers filed by the Government to be accessible to the counsel for both sides. The committee will meet to-morrow morning to begin the investigation, and will first take up the subject of schools, with a view to ascertain the amount of tax levied for school purposes, the amount remaining uncollected, condition of the schools, etc.
