The Goshen Democrat contains the proceedings of a large and enthusiastic Convention which assembled at Laporte on the 1st day of April. The crowded state of our columns forbids us publishing as desired, excellent as are the resolutions, and soul stirring the whole proceedings. We cannot, however, omit the following; the latter of which is an additional item to coon consistency.
Resolved, That we cordially approve and respond to the nomination of JAMES WHITCOMB and JESSE D. BRIGHT, by the Democratic State Convention, as candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and that we pledge ourselves to give them a hearty reception in the north, and to use every honorable exertion in their behalf—not doubting that with 'a long pull, a strong pull, and a pull altogether,' the Democracy of Indiana will triumphantly carry them through the coming ordeal, and elect them to the offices for which they have been nominated.
Resolved, That the nomination of Samuel Bigger for re-election, affords another beautiful example of Whig consistency in thus nobly 'carrying out' their one term principle.
