A Great Fenian Enterprise—British Bermuda in Danger.

Anxious seekers after the sensational must have been intensely gratified when they read the flaming head-lines of the New York Herald, of Thursday. Only think of the sailing from that "neutral port," for the British Island of Bermuda, the day before, of two formidable, armed, war vessels—three iron steamers, carrying 3,000 men, and followed by two steamers, with 2,500 soldiers. Other vessels are reported to have sailed from various ports in the United States, all for Bermuda. Altogether there was quite a ferment in Fenian circles over the new war-like movement supposed to be under way.

Five or six hundred men have gone in small squads to Machias, Maine, there to embark for their destination in schooners. Two printing presses accompany the expedition, and as soon as a landing is effected, proclamations will be issued to Fenians of the United States to join them. There are some British troops on the island, who are to be attacked by superior numbers.

A Provisional Government is to be organized, and a President elected; New Brunswick is to be conquered, a Congress established, &c.

What consternation this will produce with Mr. BULL, when it reaches England! How that fierce animal will bellow and scrape and tear up the turf! The scare which drove Parliament from its cozy bed at night to hurry up the suspension of the habeas corpus writ all over Ireland, followed by the grabbing up, on penal charges, of every unfortunate Mick who had about him anything of the "green," was but a pleasant joke to this.

Possibly, however, we should not treat such matters as this as entirely sensational and of no reliability, for, yesterday, at Washington, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs agreed to report a joint resolution to send a naval fleet to the fishing grounds, to protect the rights of American fishermen, and at the same time to preserve the peace. The resolution is understood to meet the views of Secretary Seward. It is also charged that large numbers of Fenians have gone there in the guise of fishermen, for the purpose, it is intimated, of bringing on a collision.

There may be some fire in the neighborhood of so much smoke. We will see it when the conflagration breaks out, may be.
