INDIANAPOLIS--About 50 members and friends enjoyed a banquet given in honor of John Robeson, Lodge 38, when he retired recently.
O. R. Strouse, vice-chairman of Big Four committee, presented him with a purse filled with nice new bills.
"Cocky" John began his career in 1898 as a fireman on the B&O out of Pittsburgh. In 1904 he started switching in Indianapolis Terminal and has been there ever since.
He figures he has handled about three million cars in over 50 years of service and has not sustained a single accident.
He was almost 72 when he retired and is still pretty cocky.
Visitors at the banquet included Frank P. White--Lodge 926, Logansport; J. B. Johnson--Lodge 374, and P. C. Williams--Lodge 699.
Credit for the delicious meal goes to Mrs. J. J. Fischer, Mrs. M. R. Hill, Mrs. C. H. Jann and Mrs. G. J. Gray, members of LA Lodge 901.
Membership awards were presented to W. P. Schoettlin--30-year; M. A. Hines--25-year, and W. H. Huffman--20-year.
