WASHINGTON, D. C. - The Southern Education Foundation, administering the George Peabody, the John F. Slater, the Anna T. Jeanes, and the Virginia Randolph Funds, amounting approximately to $3,000,000, and composed of northern and southern outstanding colored and white men, held its annual meeting here, Jan. 9, '41, at Brookings Institution. Our new members of the foundation are President Benj. C. Mays of Morehouse College, Atlanta, and President Frederick G. Patterson of Tuskegee, Ala. Institute.
There are several old members. The following officers were elected for 1941:
Pres., Arthur B. Wright; Chairman of the board of directors, R. Ogden Purves; Sec., Dr. Emmett J. Scott; and Treas., the Manufacturers Trust Co. of N. Y. City. Foundation assets, $2,906,242. Dr. Scott was re-elected a member for a five-year term.
