Full Text

It is stated on the authority of the Milledgeville (Ga.) Statesman, that on the 24th ult. the valiant Gov. Troup, issued an order to the Surveyor General, directing him to call out the Surveyors appointed by the legislature of Ga. to commence the surveys of the Creek Lands on the 1st of September next, agreeably to the corrupt treaty of 1825; which treaty has been abrogated by the President and Senate of the United States. This is taking a stand which we fear will be contested with blood. So great is the excitement among the Indians that Little Prince, a Georgia man, keeps a body guard to protect him from his injured and incensed countrymen; and Chilly McIntosh, dreading that vengeance which awaits his perfidy, dares not enter the Nation. Should Gov. Troup persevere in his redoubtable undertaking, he may secure to himself laurels, compared with which those of Alexander and Caesar will be mere parsley.
