PRIMARIES GO ANTI-HUGHES
New York Governor Loses In Auburn, Syracuse and Schenectady.

Schenectady, N. Y., Aug. 26.-Anti-Hughes delegates were elected at the Republican primaries in every ward in this city. The control of the organization is in the hands of Mayor Horace S. Van Voast, who is a warm personal and political friend of William Barnes, Jr., of Albany. Mayor Van Voast has openly expressed opposition to the renomination of Governor Hughes.

Senator W. W. Wemple, who voted against the antigambling bills, is one of the leaders in this county and has been renominated in the Schenectady-Montgomery-Schoharie district.

Auburn, N. Y., Aug. 26.-Senator B. M. Wilcox, who opposes Governor Hughes and voted against the anti-racing bills, carried every ward in the city at the Republican primaries. Outside the city he carried thirteen of the twenty-three towns, and he will have 179 delegates out of 201 in the senatorial convention.

Syracuse, N. Y., Aug. 26.-In the primary elections held throughout Onondaga county the clearly defined issue was the gubernatorial candidacy of Senator Horace White of this city as opposed to the renomination of Gov. ernor Hughes. In every primary district the organization favoring Senator White's candidacy won practically unanimously. Spirited contests in four primary districts resulted in victory for the organization forces as against Hughes, three to one.

A big vote was registered at the primary elections by the Republican party in Albany county. There were a few contests within this organization. State Committeeman William J. Barnes, Jr., issued a statement which says in part: "The result of the primaries in Albany is extremely gratifying. Although there were practically no contests, the Hughes people putting up no ticket, fully 70 per cent of the eligible enrolled vote of the city was cast for the organization tickets which were known to be opposed to the renomination of Governor Hughes."
