DAILY JOURNAL.

The new city government of New York is following up its programme of reform in good earnest. All the beggars have been cleared from the streets and sent to the hospitals and almshouse. The ordinance against driving cattle through the streets is scrupulously enforced. The stucco work on the outside of the new court house has been commenced, and will be continued rapidly as the weather will permit. It is about time the whole edifice were completed. But there is not much work yet to be done on it.
