Full Text

Celibacy discountenanced—The Missourians are not such bad fellows, after all, as they have been represented; at least, the ladies will think so, when they come to learn, that it is intended to exclude old bachelors from all political stations in the new state; not only from the convention which is to form the constitution, but to render them ineligible as members of Congress, &c. &c. This 'restriction' must be highly gratifying to all classes, except the grumbling bachelors themselves; and will, no doubt, tend to a more natural union than that which was attempted at the late session of Congress, between Miss-Ouri and Madam Maine.—Prov. Pat.
