Race Horses Are Arriving Puyallup Fair Opening Monday

Sixty of the more than 100 head of race horses to be quartered at Puyallup next week for the afternoon and evening grandstand shows have arrived at the Western Washington fairgrounds, according to announcement by A. E. Bartel, secretary-manager.

Racing Secretary Wesley Neary said that A. W. Taylor of Oklahoma City had arrived with five head, including the imported English horse Beldad. Bud Ray of Dallas, Texas, also is on the grounds, having brought eight head.

Equipment for farm machinery row has arrived from Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley, Calif., and is now in place. A. G. Gross, vice president and superintendent of the merchants' building, said that many of the merchants and manufacturers came in late Wednesday and would increase in numbers Thursday.

Representatives of the women's building close entries for their department Thursday night and they will continue to work late on the large number of entries. Mrs. Hannah Lenfesty, superintendent, says that without sorting and making an accurate check it appears there are many more entries of fancywork this year than previously. Women wishing to enter cooking still have until 6 p. m. Saturday to get their entries to the fairgrounds.
