Please Note
No three gentlemen we know in Flathead county are more pleasant than Reu Carr, Archie O'Claire and Charles Luke, the county commissioners.
Columbia Falls Mayor Herman Benzien and council member Fred Krona last winter had a friendly meeting with the commissioners, and came home enthused with the idea that the county would help Columbia Falls get Railroad street, considered part of the county road system, into shape for Anaconda Aluminum Co. plant developments. There might even be a helping hand in fixing up Nucleus avenue.
The commissioners were also approached about the county road leading to the aluminum plant site, and heavy traffic that could be expected there this year. Again, there was a friendly understanding of the problem.
It is certainly fine to have elected officials so pleasant, and they deserve our respect.
Here it is the end of May, and it would seem that the county would get around to doing something about these roads.
A sensible hope would be that improvement of this county road to a new, large tax paying facility would come before heavy use during the plant construction period develops.
As it is, there is reason for this section of the Flathead to feel like orphans when it comes to benefits from county government. Relationships have certainly been pleasant, but let's see some county road building machinery at work.
