WANTS CONFIRMATION.
A Spaniard from Texas, who recently arrived at Natchitoches, reports that the well known General Long, with thirty or forty companions, lately went to Labadie and represented themselves as a party of Austin's men who had come to settle upon his grant, that they were well received by the Spaniards, and treated with great civility and kindness; but after a few days they took forcible possession of the town, and levied heavy contributions upon the inhabitants. He adds however, that their triumph was short. Some troops arrived from St. Antonio before the marauders had commenced their retreat, who made them all prisoners, and marched them in chains to the interior. Such is the story as we have received it in a letter from Natchitoches, and we give it to our readers for just as much as it is worth.
