INCREASED WHEAT YIELD FOR OHIO

Harvest To Be Two Weeks Later Than Usual This Season; Oats Crop Short.

Columbus, Ohio.—Ohio crop and livestock estimates for June, made public this week by C. J. West, agricultural statistician, credits Ohio farmers with 2,000,000 more bushels of wheat than was estimated a month ago.

The estimate now is 31,300,000 bushels, as compared with last year's crop of 23,900,000.

The wheat harvest will be two weeks later than usual this year.

The outlook for oats is unfavorable, according to the crop reporter. The oats plants are of good color and the stand generally is thick, but the growth is small and only with the most favorable weather can Ohio expect even a fair-sized oats crop. The condition is general, according to reports from all the northern states.

Hay prospects are not up to average.

This is true especially of clover. Condition of the rye crop is average and barley is six percent below average. Due to dry weather pasture hardly is up to the average for the first of June.

There is no apparent falling off in number of hogs. A report from 300 farms just tabulated shows the average size for spring pig litters is 6.4 pigs. This is approximately the usual number.
