Full Text

The Party—the Tariff—Wm. Hempull Jones Esq. the Democratic candidate for Congress in the state of Delaware, has come out unequivocally in favor of the Tariff bill as passed by the late Congress. We welcome with pleasure Mr. Jones to the great Whig or American party.

Mr. Jones says:

"I have always looked upon the Tariff as an AMERICAN, rather than a PARTY question, and it can never acquire stability, until it is so considered and treated."

The locos of Wilmington, have nominated a candidate for the State Legislature, who is said to be "in favor of a United States Bank, a Tariff, and a Distribution law." Locofocoism must have run dry in little Delaware.
