Agriculture is finishing the year
in better condition than it began,
according to a summary conducted
by the Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Prices of many farm products and total cash incomes are
higher than in 1938.
Prospects that domestic
consumer demand for farm products
in 1940 will be better than in 1939
but prospects for foreign demand
are uncertain because of the war
in Europe, the BAE report said.
Wheat prices are up because of
dry weather in the great plains,
boosted market conditions,
increase in livestock enterprises has
aided the feed markets and prices
of dairy products have experienced
a rise. Other farm commodities remained unchanged.
