On the 27th ult. one Thomas Baird, who was carried off by a Party of Delaware Indians. made his Escape from them at some Distance from the Allegheny Mountains, and informs as follows, viz.
That some Time before, he, his Wife. and Thomas Potter, were surprised by five or six Indians, who rushed into the House upon them, but that they forced them out again, when the Enemy fired two Shot through the door, and broke in at the Roof: That Potter cut off three Fingers of one of them, and killed another by a Stroke on the Head: That the Indians then took them away, and, after travelling a little way, killed Potter, and a Child of Baird's :
That after this they went through Conecocheague, by Sharp's and M'Cord's Forts, the Path Valley, and the Shades of Death, where they discovered Captain Thompson with a Party of Men, on which they fled to the Mountains, murdered one Samuel Hunter, because he could not run fast enough, and used him (Baird) most barbarously: That he knew several of the Indians, particularly James Loganua, Indian Isaac's Brother, who, with others. pursued after several People in Marsh Creek : And that the Captain of the Gang told him he was at one of the Indian Treaties with this Government, and showed him a Medal he received there.

Thomas Baird, his wife, and Thomas Potter were surprised by five or six Delaware Indians who rushed into their house. They forced the Indians out, but the Indians fired shots and broke in through the roof. Potter injured and killed one Indian. The Indians captured them, then killed Potter and Baird's child after traveling a short distance. The group passed through Conecocheague by Sharp's and M'Cord's Forts, Path Valley, and Shades of Death, spotted Captain Thompson's party and fled to the mountains, murdered Samuel Hunter for being too slow, and treated Baird barbarously. Baird escaped near Allegheny Mountains. Baird recognized James Loganua and others who pursued people in Marsh Creek. The captain showed a medal from an Indian treaty with the government.
