Gloster To Cover Administrative Field For U. S. O.

Beginning January 1. Hugh M. Gloster, USO associate regional executive, will give administrative field coverage to USO operations serving Negroes in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. He will also make his first official visits to communities in this newly assigned region next month in company with Mr. Henry W. Pope, USO director of services to Negroes.

Since the summer of 1944 Mr. Gloster has served as associate regional executive in charge of services to Negroes in Georgia, S. Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, with headquarters in Atlanta. He will continue his duties in this capacity in addition to carrying his new responsibilities.

In commenting on the extension of Mr. Gloster's territory to include the newly assigned states which constitute USO Region IV, Mr. Mark L. Ethorl, USO executive in Region VII, stated: "Region IV will be fortunate in securing Mr. Gloster's services. He is an extremely competent man, makes and maintains sound relations with communities, and has a real capacity for evaluating USO services."

Mr. Gloster, who holds a Ph. D. degree from New York University is on leave for service with the USO from Morehouse College and Atlanta University, where he is professor of English.
