Niles' Register.
We publish this week the proceedings of the meeting in Fairfield county, and intend noticing them further hereafter. It will suffice here to remark, that however much we are disposed to see a salutary reform introduced into our system of nominating---however strong we may have expressed ourselves in favor of districting, we do not wish to see a resort to violent means, and a system of proscription introduced. Because some deserving men were nominated, at a time when others unworthy were named as candidates, should they be denounced? That some are little qualified to fill the places for which they are candidates, and that others entirely destitute of political honesty on the caucus ticket, we well know;-and it was by a species of intrigue that they obtained their nomination. But there are others who are eminently entitled to support, and against whom not a finger of ours shall be raised.---Hart. Times.
