An interesting scene took place at the Anatomical Theatre of the Washington Medical College, at Baltimore, involving the unwrapping of an Egyptian Mummy from Memphis, presented by Com. Elliot of the Navy. The wrappings consisted of coarse muslin externally and fine linen next to the body. Additional items presented included a preserved skull dug up by the Commodore, another mummy from Memphis, a fragment from the Temple of the Sun at Balbec, a marble fragment from Sidon, a capital and column from the tomb of Achilles at Troy, a Turkish Monad from the Levant, a portion of the temple erected by Miltiades on the plains of Marathon, and other antiquities from Syria and Jerusalem.
