Last Monday night, one Mr. Pearson, a mate belonging to his Majesty's ship Mercury, now in this harbour, having been in company with a lewd woman in a house near the college, in this city, got his pocket picked of money, and suspecting the woman of the house to be concerned in the robbery, swore if she did not return him the money, or find the woman that stole it, (she having absconded directly) he would be her death that minute; but she denying any knowledge of the affair, Mr. Pearson immediately drew his sword, and stabbed her in the body, of which wound she died last Thursday. The coroner's inquest being summoned, they brought in their verdict, wilful murder. Mr. Pearson is now confined on board the Mercury.
