[Laramie Boomerang.]
C. E. Wurtele has resigned as division superintendent of the Union Pacific, and on the 1st of December will be succeeded by George W. Dickinson, a brother of the general superintendent. Mr. Wurtele has been connected with the Union Pacific a number of years, and it is needless to say that he stands high at headquarters. Many railroad men resign by request, but such is not the case with Mr. Wurtele. His health is not good, and as he has acquired a competency he retires to seek a greatly needed rest.
Mr. Dickinson, the new superintendent, is now holding the position of superintendent of the Montana Union, with headquarters at Butte. The line extends from Butte to Garrison, fifty-two miles, and includes the Anaconda branch, running from Anaconda to Stuart, a distance of nine miles. Mr. Dickinson is universally conceded to be a first class railroad man, and no doubt he will prove a worthy successor to Mr. Wurtele.
To the above considerable of a complimentary nature could be added in relation to Mr. Wurtele, who is doubtlessly one of the best railway men in the West. His Cheyenne friends are numbered by the hundreds, and all will regret to learn that he is to leave the company and the city. Nothing can be learned of the resignation from railway men here. Mr. Wurtele has been out West for nearly a week. It may be, and even is quite likely, that Mr. Wurtele has not resigned. It is strange that if such is the case it should not be known at headquarters.
