At Local Relations Institute
Notable men and women whose
travels have familiarized them
with post-war conditions over
all parts of the globe are among
the faculty members at Seattle's
sixth annual Institute of International
Relations this week.
D. C. Knapp, chairman of the general
committee arranging the Institute,
has announced the following
speakers:
James P. Warburg, New York
economist and author, spokesman
for the world government movement.
Bharatan Kumarappa, intimate
associate of Gandhi and India's
representative on the United Nations
social commission.
Wilfred Wellock, author and
former Labor Party member of
the British Parliament.
Lewis Hoskins, recently returned
from three years service in
China;
and Herbert J. Wood,
whose earlier travels have covered
most of the Orient and Europe.
James M. Read of Philadelphia,
Anne Guthrie,
Margaret Mead
and Bayard Rustin, of New York
and Robert C. Line of the University
of Montana will discuss other
phases of worldwide economic and
social problems.
The Institute is sponsored by the
American Friends Service Committee
to stimulate study of international
issues and further the cause
of world peace. The theme of the
1949 Institute is "What is the Price
of World Community?"
