Dekalb Schools Hold County Science Fair

DeKalb county schools held their annual county-wide science fair March 21-23, 1961, at the Robert Shaw Elementary School. Theme of the fair was "Science Frontiers of the Sixties."

Areas represented in the fair included: Air and Water; Living Matter; Universe and Solar System; Electricity and Magnetism; Man's Uses and Control; Sound and Light.

The following schools in the county were awarded prizes for projects entered in the fair: Robert Shaw School received eleven first prizes, two second prizes and three third prizes; Bruce St. School received four first prizes, two second prizes and two third prizes; Victoria Simmons School received three first prizes, one second and one third prize.

Other awards went to County Line School with two second and one third prize. Lynwood Park School received two first prizes, three second and one third prize.

The judges were Mrs. Ruth Cameron; Mrs. Emma Jones; Mrs. Betty Mullins; Mrs. Myrtle Sinclair and Mrs. Johndelle Johnson. The science fair committee included Mrs. R. W. Moss; Mrs. J. M. Jay; Mrs. L. A. Bohler; Miss F. C. Smith; R. L. Veasley and Cecil Jones.
