GUILD OF AMERICA
The time is drawing near for the annual meeting and exhibition of articles of the Providence branch of the Needlework Guild of America. The annual exhibition of the Providence branch, of which Mrs. Frederic Talbot is president, will be held next month.
The guild collects new garments to be distributed to hospitals, homes and other charities. The annual contribution of two or more new articles of wearing apparel or household linen, or a donation of money, constitutes membership. Men, women and children may become members and it is a splendid work in which to interest children. Any member obtaining contributions from 10 persons (or the equivalent, 22 articles) becomes a director.
Each director is also required to secure one money member, no amount specified.
The garments collected this fall are designed for winter use, therefore they should be made of warm materials. Merino, unbleached muslin or canton flannel for underwear and colored flannel for skirts are desired. Articles for men and boys are specially requested.
Last year there was a gain of 57 articles over the previous year, in all 7094 articles. This year it is hoped to eclipse the record of last season, as each year a steady increase in interest is manifested. As a final word, the need cannot be too strongly emphasized that members send in their articles at once in order that they go on record.
