Full Text
Of the many improvements that have recently been made in the education of youth, we think Mr. Wrifford's new method of instruction in writing entitled to pre-eminence. The necessary art of writing, as it was formerly, and we believe is still taught in many of our schools, can only be acquired by a long course of tedious application. By the method introduced by Mr. Wrifford, the pupil, in a few days, attains not merely legibility, but elegance. The obvious advantages resulting from this method are, that a fair or elegant hand may be acquired in less time, and at much less expense, than by any method heretofore adopted. We think the importance of the improvement entitles it to notice, and hope it may soon be generally adopted in our schools and academies. In the mean time, to the notice of those who may be anxious to acquire this necessary and elegant accomplishment, we recommend Mr. Rand, (a pupil of Mr. Wrifford,) as an instructor well qualified, and well recommended.
