Event Details
A fire broke out at Vicksburg, on the morning of the 14th inst., in the neighborhood of the old Whig office, which spread to the commission ware house of Mr. James Gwin, entirely consuming that and four adjoining frames; then crossed Washington st., and swept the buildings from the corner of Jackson to Main; and from thence up Main street to Walnut—Mr. Fraisse's brick building alone being saved. The north side of Main street, from Washington to Walnut, is a heap of ruins, as well as the north side of Walnut street as far as the residence of Mrs. Shockne, which was consumed.
