Among the multitude of Periodicals, which have been ushered into existence within a few years, we have noticed with pleasure, 'The Souvenir,' a weekly publication, in the quarto form, at Philadelphia, and 'The Parthenon, or Literary and Scientific Museum,' a weekly publication, in the octavo form, at New-York. For neatness of typographical execution and quantity of matter—and, so far as we can judge, of very good matter—the former is perhaps preferable. Of the reputation and character of the editor, we have no knowledge. Of the latter publication, Mr. Samuel Woodworth is the editor—a gentleman favorably known to the literary world as a poet, and a writer of some considerable eminence. The only number of the Parthenon which we have yet seen, bears marks of talent and judgment in the execution, and we hope the work may meet with suitable encouragement.
