For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he—Proverbs 23:7.
I believe that the success or failure of any man's life depends to a large extent, on what he believes. My beliefs are centered on mind as being the first force in man's life, and matter, a secondary force. I believe that the world in which we live was created with a purpose in mind—a purpose for man to think, rule, invent, discover, and plan the things that develop for us a better world in which to live.
In this wonderful world of ours, the time is at hand and in some instances belated—when man must set up a group of philosophical principles by which he can guide his life. When there is no blueprint to follow, we end up wandering and our formative foundations are usually a failure; thus, we deprive ourselves of our purposes in life.
ADHERENCE TO GOOD ESSENTIAL
I believe that everyone has something in his subconscious mind that help to guide his life toward more purposeful living. This something to which I refer has a direct relation to God. This I believe is the spirit or soul that exists in everyone. If this soul is discovered by man and receives the rightful spiritual communication with God, there are better chances here on earth for a happier life and a better hereafter.
The conscious mind of man must realize that the forces of evil in the world are constantly striving to conquer the good which exists in man. If perchance this good in man is overpowered, it is preyed upon by evil, thus making man's life here on earth miserable and damaging the spiritual outlook for a peaceful world hereafter.
Man's adherence to the good soul or good conscience makes him closer to God; but, once evil penetrates the soul, it pushes away the good man-God relationships. If man discovers the good in his life, he feels God's presence always. He sees God through his daily environment.
Once man's mind becomes overwhelmed with evil, unless he rushes to restore good through spiritual communion, he jeopardizes gradually his powers of living a good and purposeful life.
EDUCATION PROVIDES
To me, education is a tool in this universe of ours that lifts the wall of ignorance from man's eyes. Just as men seek to gain spiritual strength, they must also seek educational strength in order to understand this universe of ours and make it a better place in which to live. Education helps us to better our conditions through our daily growth and knowledge.
If men learn a little each day, it makes their lives more worthwhile. Whether it is through experience or good advice, it is another spark toward the road of progress.
Our future depends mostly on how we think today.
This I believe . . .
