GAINESVILLE (Tex.), June 11th.—At sunset yesterday Dr. Wiley, a prominent physician, stripped his wife of all her clothing and beat her unmercifully. She escaped and ran through the streets entirely nude. The doctor pursued her, firing with a revolver, but failing to hit her. She sought refuge in a neighbor's house, where the doctor, on attempting to enter, was disarmed and handed over to the officers. He was taken to the Montague Jail to prevent lynching. Mrs. Wiley will die.
