Full Text

After the most unwearied pains we have not been able to trace to any authentic source the intelligence contained in Saturday's Centinel, concerning the capture of three frigates and transports, said to be brought by the vessel from Cadiz -The public are in possession of the intelligence bro't by capt. Myrick Captain Pedrick brings the same intelligence, a letter from St. Ubes to a gentleman in Portsmouth, states exactly the same, a report of the capture was current at Liverpool. All agree that Admiral Jervis's fleet is taken, it would be but fair in the Centinel to state the source of his intelligence, how he discovered that only three frigates were taken with the transports.-We are strongly of opinion that while there was a British fleet in the Mediterranean they would not leave their transports with troops and provisions to be convoyed by three frigates.
