JUSTICE'S BIG FEE
Goldfield Officer Paid Over $5,500 in
Eight Months

GOLDFIELD, July 12.—An investigation of the receipts of the justice's court of Goldfield is now under way to determine the amount and legality of the fees collected during his incumbency, which terminated a few days ago.

The law requires the justice to file a statement each month of the fees collected, but Solomon neglected to do this, and all that can be ascertained is that the aggregate of his claims presented to the county since last November, excluding civil fees, is about $5,500. No separate record of the fines and fees collected can be found, and Judge Henley, who has just been appointed to take Solomon's place, is entirely at sea in regard to the business of the office.
