ARKANSAS MAGAZINE.

The first number of the Arkansas Magazine, Newburn & Ringo, editors and publishers, Little Rock, Arkansas, has been laid on our table. In their salutatory, the editors say:

"Believing that there is as much talent within the borders of Arkansas, as in any other State in the Union, we wish in establishing this magazine, to make it a vehicle for bringing before the public the many talented sons and daughters of Arkansas, who are now living in obscurity simply for the want of some means by which they may make themselves and their talents known to the reading part of the community."

There may be many sons and daughters of our sister State of obscure literary fame, yet she can lay claim to, at least, one bright star, by common consent of the first magnitude in the constellation of letters, whose contributions have enriched the literature of our language, and given it a sterling character at home and abroad. If Albert Pike is one of the patrons of the Arkansas Magazine, it will in truth go forth laden with rich and rare gems which will be cherished by thousands of admiring friends beyond the limits of his State.

In mechanical execution this periodical will compare favorably with the leading publications of the day. The terms are three dollars per annum, in advance.—Eag. & Enq.
