Full Text

The N. Y. Daily Advertiser gives notice that the letters of Major Downing, originally printed in that paper, will be forthwith published in a volume, ornamented by engravings illustrative of some of the most interesting and ludicrous scenes described by the writer. The letters will be corrected, improved and enlarged by the author—and none will be published except those printed originally in the above named paper. Really, this Major Downing is fast coming into notice: the great difficulty now is, that he may overdo the matter—that the stock of humor being exhausted, his writings may become wearisome to the reader. He does not yet however flag.
