Last Monday one Mr. Sever of Roxbury, being about blowing up a Rock, and having touch'd the Fuze, the Fire went out before it reach'd the dry Powder: whereupon taking out the Quill, he put water into the Hole to wet the Powder, and then endeavour'd to bore it out; as he was performing it, 'tis suppos'd the Powder, dry'd by the Heat occasion'd by the Force of the Implement he was using, took Fire and split the Rock in Pieces, and tore off all the Fingers of one of his Hands, which shatter'd that.
