Full Text

Returned from the War.

We learn from a reliable source, that Lieut. A. B. Tate, who recruited a squad of men in this county for the 136th Regiment Penna. Volunteers, returned home with his command on Monday evening last, and met with a grand reception by the citizens of Bloomsburg, irrespective of party. This is right. All attempts to make political capital, by either party in the reception of these returning braves, should be indignantly scouted by every high-minded citizen. If a proper reception, in which men of all parties can freely participate, cannot be tendered, it were better for all concerned that none were given. We are pleased to know that Lieut. Tate has demeaned himself as becomes a loyal citizen and a faithful soldier. He retires from the service—having served nine months—with the esteem of his fellow officers, and the most unlimited confidence of his spartan band, who enlisted with him from this county, and who have followed him through all the vicissitudes and dangers of the tented field.
