Finance figures recently released indicate that the budget bureau was grossly inefficient or deliberately falsified during the recent biennium. It was charged the other day by R. W. McDonald, Forsyth legislator. One of the most acrimonious arguments during the General Assembly was over the size of the found surplus for the closing of the biennium. The Budget Bureau estimated the surplus would not exceed $200,000, while the McDonald group claimed the surplus would be $500,000. The official report of the Treasurer and Auditor showed that there was a surplus of $355,000 in the cash operations of the general fund for the biennium closed.
