Construction And One Story In Height

The Accomack County School Board is advertising in this issue of the Enterprise for bids for the construction of the new brick high school building at Accomac, Va. Money for the construction of this building was voted by the taxpayers of this magisterial district in a special election held June 30 last year.

The plans call for a one story building with 12 class rooms, principal's office, library, rest rooms and an auditorium to seat about 600 persons. Bids for the new building will be opened at the office of the school board at Parksley on Monday, March 21 at 10 a. m. Alternate bids are being asked on the roof construction. This is done at the request of the local building committee which is composed of Drs. J. H. Ayres and J. L. DeCormis, Ben T. Gunter, George L. Doughty, John D. Grant, Jr. and Alfred Edmonds.

It is planned to have the building completed in time for the opening of the next school session in September this year. Contractors wishing to bid on this building can do so by application to the School Board of this county.

When this building is completed it will be one of the most up-to-date school buildings on the Shore. The building will be somewhat similar to the school buildings at Snow Hill and Pocomoke City in outside appearances.
