Full Text

It is suggested, that the political field of arrangement, where matters are to be "cut and dried" during the session, where this man will be put down and that man put up, where plans are to be laid for the punishment of all democrats who were in any way active prior to and during the eventful election of March last, will be, where it was last year at the office of the Deputy Secretary.

N. H. Patriot.

We are authorized to state that the assertion contained in the above extract is utterly destitute of truth. This is ostensibly, an attack upon the Deputy ; but undoubtedly was intended for the Secretary of State. Upright, independent men, although true republicans to the core, are rats-bane to Mr. Hill. He is greatly disturbed in mind. at seeing the office of Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Warden of the State Prison, filled by such independent men as the present incumbents. He can take no rest while so many Mordecais "sit in the king's gate." They must be put down, and some of his own tools, men after his own heart, must be provided for. Viper! bile on!
