PAPER ASKS READERS, "PLEASE HOLD PHONE"

CLARKSVILLE, Ark.-UP Keeping its temper with obvious difficulties, the Clarksville Herald-Democrat printed this front-page notice to telephone callers who call and then hang up before anyone can answer: "The Herald-Democrat building is 120 feet long, with various obstacles in the way. If you call between the hours of 8 and 12 and one and five, please hold the line for at least a minute and give us a chance, so that we won't have to run the obstacle course more than once for the call."
