OKLAHOMA CONSTRUCTION.
Work on New Lines Is Progressing to Many Points.

Guthrie, Ok., Aug. 20.--Laying steel on the Oklahoma Central has been resumed near Purcell after a delay because of lack of material. Trains are now running between Lehigh and Blanchard, in the Chickasaw nation, and it is expected to have them running into Chickasha by the middle of September. Dorset Carter, president of the road, in New York, writes to local officials that it will be extended westward to Woodward in northwestern Oklahoma.

Actual construction on the Gotebo and Southwestern in Kiowa county began during the week. It is projected to connect at Clinton with the Orient. Contracts signed secure the road to Frederick.

Surveyors for the Yankton and Gulf are working near Cleveland in the Oklahoma oil and gas field. The survey follows the Arkansas river southeast from Wichita, Kan., to Cleveland.

G. W. Phillips, grading contractor of Wichita Falls, Tex., has commenced grading for the Lawton, Wichita Falls and Northwestern, building from Wichita Falls to Frederick and Mangum.

The Denver, Enid and Gulf, operating 150 miles of track between Guthrie and Kiowa, Kan., J. J. Cunningham, O. J. Fleming and J. L. Soule resigned and Henry E. Asp, U. C. Guss and E. P. Copeland were elected to fill the vacancies. These changes were occasioned by the purchase of the Denver, Enid and Gulf some time ago by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe.
