In Regard to the Requisition lately made by Mr. Trevor, the British Minister, their High Mightinesses have resolved, that the Succours which the Republick is obliged by Treaties to furnish, for the Defence of his Britannick Majesty's Kingdoms, shall be sent over as soon as that Monarch pleases to call for them.
In Consequence of this Resolution, Orders are issued for drawing out of the Provinces the Number of Troops necessary, and equipping the Men of War that are to be furnished for the King of Great Britain's Service.
The Generals that are to command the Body of Troops designed for England, are not yet nominated. Many pretend, that this Corps will consist of the Troops that were in Garrison at Tournay and Oudenarde.
That the Abbe de la Ville having got Scent of the Design, made Representations to the State about it, pretending that such a Step would be absolutely against the Capitulations of those two Towns; but that this Minister was answered, That France having declared she had no Hand in the Project of the Pretender, who, besides, is not as yet looked upon, nor known to be an Ally of that Crown, the Republick, in sending the said Troops to the Assistance of his Britannick Majesty, reckoned she should not be guilty of an Infraction of the above mentioned Capitulations.
It is said, that the French Minister has been exceedingly nettled and disconcerted by this Answer.
