Shelby Drops Albemarle In Legion Series Opener
ALBEMARLE, July 26.-(AP)- Shelby's American Legion Junior baseball team defeated Albemarle 6-1 here today in the opening game of their series for the Western North Carolina championship.
The home team scored its run in the opening inning and held Shelby scoreless until the eighth, when six hits, a walk and an error gave the visitors all their runs.
The winner of the series will play Whiteville, the eastern half champions, for the state Legion title.
