Full Text

We attended the meeting of the "Colored Republican Club" last Tuesday night, and were surprised at the amount of "wire-pulling" that was done by colored men in the interest of some white politicians who had promised to grease their pockets. They made moves, offered resolutions, made speeches, told jokes, talked about the eclipse, bucked against the ruling of the chair, voted against every measure and tried their best to run the meeting in the interest of some of their pet candidates but the majority wouldn't have it that way.

Our advice to the colored voters of Kansas, is to look to their own interests; the white men can take care of themselves, and to vote and work against any man who does not pledge his support to our candidate for Lieut Gov.
