NEWPORT

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 1816.

INDEPENDENCE.

The glorious anniversary of American Independence, was celebrated throughout the Union on Thursday last, with customary eclat.

In this town the arrangements adopted by the Town's Committee were carried into effect.

In Boston the day was celebrated with unusual splendor, and we learn, with a great degree of unanimity among the two political parties. In New-York a splendid procession was formed, in which was drawn by horses, a superb model of a line of battle ship, of exquisite workmanship, about twenty feet keel, and built in all its due proportions. Want of room prevents our giving detailed accounts of the numerous splendid celebrations, together with the enlivening toasts drank on the occasion.
