County officials who ran unopposed for re-election received high complimentary votes from their constituents, Imperial County Clerk W. J. McClelland said Saturday.
Assessor-Collector Dan Wiest was high man on the ticket of county officials, receiving 4,903. School Superintendent E. L. Hiteman received 4,338 votes, County Clerk McClelland, 4,689.
District Attorney Elmer Heald 4,709, Auditor Walter D. Garey, 4,650, Treasurer George Varney, 4,594, Surveyor Henry J. Burk, 4,321, Public Administrator M. D. Zinn 4,525, Supervisor I Schlatter of Calexico 725, and Supervisor Dave Vencill of Holtville 603.
The final official count for Sheriff Robert W. Ware was 4,650 while his opponent, A. R Hems, received 989.
Assemblyman Harvey E. Hastain of Brawley, unopposed for re-election, received a complimentary vote of 1,951.
